How thick should a concrete driveway be?
A residential driveway is normally 100mm on a compacted base with SL72 mesh. Where trucks or caravans track over it we thicken to 125–150mm and add bar. We will spec yours when we quote it.
Do I need council approval for a crossover?
For the section between the kerb and your boundary, yes — councils have their own profiles and want to inspect it. We build to spec and leave it inspection-ready.
Will my new concrete crack?
Concrete shrinks, so it moves. The job of the control joints is to decide where. Cut on time and at the right spacing, the slab cracks along a straight line you can barely see.
