WHAT REDLANDS & BAYSIDE CONCRETE ACTUALLY NEEDS
Pool surrounds are the bulk of what we do between Cleveland and Redland Bay. They are the most demanding surface on our list: constant water, sunscreen, chlorine and bare feet. Every one gets non-slip additive through the seal coat, a cool-touch colour and careful detailing at the coping junction, because that junction is where bayside surrounds fail first.
Salt air is the other local factor. It attacks the surface of concrete and it accelerates corrosion in any reinforcement sitting too close to the top of the slab — which is why we see more spalling in Wynnum and Manly than we do inland. Spalled surfaces get the rusting steel treated before the patch goes on, not just filled over.
And because UV and salt work on a sealer together, bayside driveways want re-sealing every three years rather than five. It is a cheap day of work that saves a resurface, and we will tell you when yours is due rather than waiting for you to notice it chalking.

Is resurfaced concrete slippery around a bayside pool?
No. Pool surrounds get non-slip additive through the seal coat and a texture chosen for bare feet. We wet the surface and walk it with you before we leave.
Why is my Wynnum driveway flaking on the surface?
That is spalling, and salt air accelerates it. The failed surface gets cut out, any rusting reinforcement is treated, then it is rebuilt with repair mortar — filling over it just hides the corrosion.
How often do bayside driveways need re-sealing?
Every three years or so, rather than the five you would get inland. Salt and UV break a sealer down faster out here.
Do you work on the Southern Moreton Bay islands?
